Course Description: This course will engage students in an exploration of Chinese philosophy and thought since pre-Qin dynasty from a global point of view. Students will read the original Chinese texts and discern applicability of these texts for modern academic vocabulary and formal logic. With a focus on affinity and respect for Chinese culture and a Chinese identity, students will juxtapose Chinese classics with Western and modern thinking. Students will learn to explain and analyze the role of Confucianism in China.
