Course Description: This course provides an overview on the history regarding ways in which China has responded to Western influences since 1840. Students will explore how different ideologies and interest groups influence China, how political dynamics have shaped the modern history of China, the development of contemporary China, and opportunities for China’s future. Students will learn to improve communication and avoid misunderstandings between China and the West.
